 Competition Report

The fifth NSW F3A Precision Aerobatics 1000 was held over 18–19 April at the Camden Valley Radio
Control Miniature Aviation Sports (CVRCMAS) flying field, delivering an engaging and highly competitive
weekend of precision aerobatic flying.
Seventeen competitors attended from across New South Wales and the ACT, with pilots travelling from
regions including Central West, Blue Mountains, Illawarra and the Central Coast. The event also
welcomed international competitor Peter Nieuwenhuizen, who travelled from the United States and
added a special dimension to the competition by flying alongside his father, Felix. The Sportsman class
was bolstered by two new competitors, highlighting encouraging growth at the entry level.
Flying conditions across the weekend featured moderate winds with occasional blow-ins, providing a
challenging and at times unpredictable environment for pilots in all classes. Despite this, competitors
demonstrated a consistently high standard of precision, control and composure throughout the event.
After four rounds of competition, class winners were determined as follows:

Andrè Lombard (Sportsman),

Alastair Bennetts (Advanced),

Mark Locock (F3A),

David McFarlane (FAI).

Each class winner progressed to the NSW F3A 1000 fly-off, joined by one wild card competitor from each class:

Maqsood “Max” Ahmad (Sportsman),

Richard Chard (Advanced),

Peter Nieuwenhuizen (F3A)

(F3A),Tim Voigt (FAI).

The fly-off produced extremely close results, with tight margins maintained throughout the final
flights and placing pressure on every manoeuvre. Andrè Lombard ultimately delivered the most improved performance, securing the overall win
for the second time and claiming the $1000 prize.
NSW F3A Precision Aerobatics extends its sincere
thanks to CVRCMAS for hosting the competition,
and for its continued support and hospitality over the weekend.

Tim Voigt.
